Documentation
The "memory" of the museum
The tasks of the documentation department include the registration of all objects, the coordination of loan transactions and the further documentation of the collection by means of pictures, video and text material.
From devotional pictures to carpenter's axes, from day labourers' houses to stately residences - every object in the collection and every historical building in the museum has its own history. For example, we ask about the origin and use of the object or building and record the results for science and the interested public. Scientists, restorers, magazine staff and documentalists work closely together.
How we do this
Extensive inventory
The information collected is recorded in a central database. Parts of the database will soon be available online for research.
